The club meeting on March 7 had 16 members in attendance. The meeting was held at the Hobby Stop West racetrack in the Woodville Mall at 12 noon.
The first point of business was discussion of the club’s finances given by Rick Frazier. The accounts are in order and we have sufficient funding to begin the 2009 race year.
It was motioned the club schedule be accepted and the results are to be posted to the website. The schedule will also be posted to RCTech. The only item that may change is the ROAR Nationals, which is discussed in the next paragraph.
Due to the poor attendance of one of the ROAR National events this year it was asked by ROAR that the 1/8th Fuel On Road Nationals and the Sedan Fuel Nationals be combined into one race as was done years ago before the format change for separate races. ROAR has determined that because of the economic climate in 2009 that it would be wiser to have one combined race rather than the two race format. The two host tracks affected are, Lincoln Nebraska Hobbytown track and our track, One Eighth Racers of Toledo. It has not been determined at this time by ROAR or consensus which tracks will hold the 2009 race, so pending the decision we will not change the posted calendar until told to do so. Hopefully a decision by ROAR and the two tracks will be reached soon.
Rules for the GT class were discussed and it was agreed to use the Midwest Series rules and applicable ROAR rules for pit stops, qualifiers, etc. as our club rules for the GT class. The MWS rules lay out which motors, cars, tires, etc. may be used, and also that the cars must be “buggy based” that will supersede any changes by ROAR. Please link to www.midwestweries.com for more complete information on this class.
Garden tractor maintenance of “Old Trusty” will be completed before the season opening. The generator and air compressor have, or will be, serviced also.
It was also agreed that the first stage of moving the existing racer sheds that were installed last season be done this year. The sheds unfortunately were installed too close to the fencing nearest the track and noise was a real problem during the GLC. Bigger events generate more noise constantly than do our club races.
The second stage consists of joining each pair of sheds with a steel supported canopy and steel roofing in order to increase the covered pit space area for racers. This may or may not be completed this year and will be discussed at a later date after we complete the first stage.
The meeting was motioned to be completed and was seconded.
